The virtues of learning the Qur’an and Tajweed
The Holy Qur’an, in terminology, is: (The word of Allah, revealed to Muhammad, may blessings and peace be upon him, worshiped by its recitation, transmitted with frequency, beginning with Surat Al-Fatihah, and sealed with Surat Al-Nas).
The Greatness of the Holy Quran
Allah Almighty spoke about the greatness of the Qur’an in His saying: {And indeed, it is—in the Master Record with Us—highly esteemed, rich in wisdom.} [Al-Zukhruf: 4]. This is a testimony from Allah Almighty of the high status and wisdom of the Qur’an. The blessing of this book extends to the Day of Resurrection, and its bounty is endless. It keeps pace with life with this bounty, then comes as an intercessor for its companions. The greatness of the Holy Qur’an is manifested in the greatness of its revelation
The Holy Qur’an is the greatest of the heavenly books, so the believer must read the Qur’an as it should be recited, and observe the etiquette of reading the Noble Qur’an, as it is His servants that bring the servant closer to his Lord.
One of the greatness of the Qur’an is that it was revealed by Allah Almighty alone, not from anyone else, to benefit people and guide them.
The Qur’an is straight and has no crookedness
The first: denying the contradiction in His verses, as the Almighty said: {Had it been from anyone other than Allah, they would have certainly found in it many inconsistencies.} [An-Nisa: 82].
The second: Everything that Allah Almighty mentioned in the Qur’an of monotheism, prophecy, rulings, and obligations is true, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
The virtue of Gabriel, who revealed the Qur’an
Gabriel, peace be upon him, descended upon our Messenger Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and Allah described him with five attributes: “Indeed, this ˹Quran˺ is the Word of ˹Allah delivered by Gabriel,˺ a noble messenger-angel, full of power, held in honor by the Lord of the Throne, obeyed there ˹in heaven˺, and trustworthy} [Al-Takweer: 19-21]. These five attributes include recommending the chain of transmission of the Great Qur’an.
The Virtues of the Holy Quran
Knowledge thanks to the Holy Qur’an makes the Muslims on the verge of accompanying the Qur’an. His knowledge of the fruit of learning the Qur’an increases his veneration of the Book of Allah, his observance of its sanctity, and his knowledge of his position, and the believer is confident in walking on the right approach and the right path. By taking the Qur’an as a guide and an enlightener; To distinguish between right and wrong; He is at peace with it, and his soul calms down when reciting it.
This makes him perpetually close to him, and he acquires from his knowledge of its meanings, rulings, and when Satan whispers to a Muslim. To distract him from reciting the Qur’an, because his remembrance of the virtue of the Qur’an makes him more adherent to it, and makes the Muslim in his quest for knowledge investigate the right path, which is a reason for his salvation from temptation. The firmness of the Qur’an in his heart, and the knowledge of its merits makes him keen to learn the sciences of the Qur’an, and what is related to them, which increases his honor and understanding of religion.
There are many virtues in the Great Qur’an, including:
- It is the best of heavenly books.
- The best and most powerful of the messengers, Gabriel, came down with him on the revelation of Allah Almighty.
- It was revealed to the best of creation, The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
- He went down to the best community ever raised for humanity.
- He revealed the best, most eloquent, and widest of tongues, which is the clear Arabic tongue.
- The people of the Qur’an are the people of Allah.
- The reward of reciting the Qur’an is greater than the most precious money in the world.
- Every letter of the Qur’an is worth ten good deeds.
- Every verse that a Muslim memorizes and memorizes, Allah raises him by it a degree in Jannah.
- The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur’an will be with the honorable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Qur’an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have two
- The Qur’an comes as an intercessor for its religious companions.
- The best people are those who learn and teach the Qur’an.
Sheikh Ibn Jibreen, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
Those who recite the Qur’an throughout their year are the people of the Qur’an, who are the people of Allah and His chosen ones.
A Muslim must be interested in the Qur’an, and be one of those who recite it as it should be recited, and one of those who make lawful what is permitted and forbid what is forbidden, act according to its rules, believe in its ambiguities, stop at its wonders, consider its examples, consider its stories and what is in it, and apply its teachings. Because the Qur’an was revealed for it to be acted upon and applied, even if its recitation is considered an act and there is a reward for it. Whoever wants to be among the people of remembrance must be among those who recite the Book of Allah as it should be recited, not neglecting the Qur’an, and he should not single out the month of Ramadan for that only.
Tajweed and its importance in Quran recitation
The science shows the rulings and rules that must be adhered to when reciting the Holy Qur’an according to what Muslims received from the Messenger of Allah, by giving each letter its right, way out, description, and movement, without affectation or arbitrariness.
And it was from the guidance of the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, in reading the Holy Qur’an that his reading was recitation, neither this nor haste, but rather an interpreted reading, letter by letter, and he used to interrupt his reading verse by verse, and he used to extend at the extended letters, so he extended (the Most Gracious) and extended (the Most Merciful), and he used to seek refuge in Allah from The accursed Satan in his first reading.

Method of taking the science of Tajweed
- The learner should listen to the reading of his sheikh
- That the student reads in front of his sheikh and he corrects it.
It is best to combine the two methods.
The seeker of knowledge should be aware that this knowledge is not learned from books. Rather, it is necessary to refer to the masters of Tajweed scholars.
Tajweed is an adequate duty for all Muslims; if some people do it. As for working with it, i.e. applying the rules of Tajweed while reading, it is an individual obligation of every accountable person even if he does not know these rules theoretically.
